This natural occurrence is caused by the full moon reflecting on the exposed mudflats of Roebuck Bay on extreme low tides. An illusion is creted by this reflection, of a staircase leading to the moon. This phenomenon is only visable between March and October. There is nowhere better to view the Staircase to the Moon than from Moonlight Bay Quality Suites.
