This natural phenomenon is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide, which creates a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon.
The below information indicates the Staircase dates and times from March 2011. Also known as Stairway to the Moon, the Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon where the full moon reflects of the tidal flats in Roebuck Bay at low tide. This event occurs for 3 nights on the full moon from March to October each year. To see the tidal movements every 6 hr or Staircase to the Moon is facinating in itself but to see it from your room is another thing all together.
